Larry Applegate, President, is a national authority
on the practical applications of soil freezing and the construction of soil freeze
systems. He holds a degree in Construction Management from Washington State University
and has over 25 years of experience in heavy civil construction. Larry’s expertise
in soil freeze shoring comes from years of training with the company’s founder,
Ron Krieg, and working closely with industry-leading engineers. He has a wealth
of on-site experience and has managed numerous successful projects. His practical
approach in applying soil freeze solutions has allowed his clients to complete many
otherwise difficult projects economically and expeditiously.

James Quitslund, Vice President, has been advocating
soil freezing for more than 10 years as a viable solution for the containment of
radioactive waste and other extremely hazardous materials, building on the success
of the soil freeze method at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory. He was educated
at Harvard and Oxford and has taught and conducted policy research at the University
of Washington. As a member of the SoilFreeze management team, he has educated and
forged relationships with academia, engineering firms, and contractors to establish
soil freezing as a reliable and cost-effective component of “green” construction.

Daniel W. Mageau, P.E., Lead Design Engineer (GeoEngineers, Inc.),
has provided project management on a wide range of projects—including ports, docks,
bridges, pipelines and airports—where difficult soil and groundwater conditions
call for innovative solutions. Daniel Mageau’s interest in soil freezing goes back
to his graduate education at the University of Alberta. Now a principal geotechnical
engineer in the Seattle office of GeoEngineers, Inc., he has scores of successful
frozen soil design projects to his credit. He is able to rely on the world class
technical and analytical resources of his firm and has imparted his knowledge of
soil freezing to several of his younger colleagues who assist him in design work
and also provide consulting services to SoilFreeze.
